Custom type can mean a single character or a complex type family with more than ten members. It can also mean an adjustment to an excisting typeface or a design from scratch. CakeType has produced typefaces for KPN and road signage in South Korea, amongst others, as well as the lettering for the KWF Kankerbestrijding logo and Bookedoo logos. In 2006 Studio Dumbar designed the logo and corporate identity for Bookedoo, the online agency which offers vacations in The Netherlands. Bookedoo has vacation houses and boats in almost every province and also offers special golf vacation packages. Studio Dumbar asked us to design the lowercase characters for the logos. The shapes of the characters we designed are very simple and based on circles. Discretionary ligatures were designed to connect the word “book” with the first letter of the province name.
