Receipt is inspired by the dot matrix characters found on – you guessed it – the paper receipts you receive after purchase. Pieter designed the first version in 2000 as part of a proposal for a corporate identity that, unfortunately, was rejected. Initially, the typeface only had capital letters. Carefully pushing pixels around, Pieter improved their design for the typeface’s current iteration. He also added lowercase letters and completed the character set. As he saw even more potential for the type family, Pieter drew condensed versions that further investigated the dot matrix concept. Don’t believe us? We have the Receipt.
